This colonial home in Naperville, IL was in desperate need of an update. The front entry trim, aluminum siding, and windows were in poor shape, leaving the home susceptible to weathering from the harsh Illinois winters.
Recognizing the need to secure their home exterior as well as update it, the homeowners turned to a local Facebook group for recommendations. Homeowners Design Dream Exterior with 3D Visuals
Wanting to improve the original look of their home, the homeowners collaborated with our project advisor to achieve a more modern aesthetic. After experimenting with various color combinations using a 3D rendering of their home, they decided to update their front portico, remove the shutters entirely, and install James Hardie siding. With their final design choices confirmed, we began the renovations on their home.
New Siding and Windows Bring Life to Worn Exterior
During the renovation of this home, we encountered a few minor challenges. Obtaining the necessary concrete permit for the new portico slab took longer than anticipated. Additionally, a window was initially missing from the supplier’s delivery. However, we quickly resolved this by contacting the supplier and receiving the window within a reasonable timeframe. Despite these challenges, the renovation proceeded smoothly.
We installed James Hardie Plank Siding with a Cedarmill Finish in Grey Slate, complemented by Hardie Trim in Arctic White. Additionally, we fitted Simonton 5500 windows to improve the home’s energy efficiency and curb appeal. To complete the exterior transformation, we built a stylish and updated front portico. The combination of these elements resulted in a beautifully updated and contemporary look for the home.
