This 1880 A-Box farmhouse in Chicago’s DePaul University neighborhood fell flat when it came to exterior character. Faced with a lack of dimension, the homeowners sought out our expertise and design finesse to modernize their 140 year old home.
During our design consultation process, we rendered a stylish addition that included large windows, fresh siding, and a brand new roof. Impressed with our innovative designs, the homeowners entrusted us to begin the remodeling process to bring their historic home into the 21st century!
Rendering the Details for a Sophisticated Finish
We began the remodeling process by presenting the final renderings showcasing all the details of the addition to the front of their home. These renderings included detailed visual representations illustrating how each selected material would harmonize with the overall design concept.
To achieve the desired modern look, we used James Hardie Plank siding in Iron Grey and Hardie Trim in Black for a sleek and sophisticated exterior finish. To further enhance the home’s appeal, we installed Quality Edge Vesta Steel siding in Coal, adding depth and visual interest.
With Marvin Windows installed strategically on both the first and second floors, the expanded window areas not only enhanced natural light but also seamlessly integrated with the new addition.
Lastly, the black ProVia Heritage fiberglass entry door gave the perfect final modern touch to the renovation of this home, providing a harmonious blend of style, strength, and security.
